Old songs are as much memories as anything else. I can't play or even hear this song without thinking of my dad - it was one of his favorites. I can remember slugging quarters (five songs for a quarter back then) in the Jukebox to hear "Mr." Acker Bilk and his clarinet.
I tried this song originally with a piano, like I try almost everything, but it lost all the magic. The "clarinet" you hear is all synthesizer with a LOT of pitch bending and envelope shaping to get his sweet smooth flowing clarinet sound.
