The Beach Boys at their best with the car songs! Unfortunately for them, their scenario is pretty much fantasy. Assuming both "sharks" were mostly stock, the old 413 Cross Ram Dodge was about a second faster through the quarter than the Fuel Injected Vette. Dodge's race factory team, The Ramchargers, were tearing up the Super Stock classes at the drag strip.
One of my brother's friends had a 413 super stock that was king of the street - until Chrysler really upped the ante again with the original 426 Hemi.
