I never had a Deuce Coupe but when this song first came out I did have the Flathead Mill. Instead of being in a 32 Ford coupe, it was in a 49 Ford pickup with the body removed to create the infamous "beach buggy." It had been shortened to a 67 inch wheelbase by moving the rear spring shackles forward and cutting the driveshaft to 11 inches.
By a series of trades, I got the requisite Three Deuces and a modified Chevy Muncie four speed to mount behind the old flathead. It weighed next to nothing and even with the limited horsepower, it would fly! With the big Slicks and some rough concrete, it would bounce the front wheels when you dumped the clutch!
I was the terror of Matagorda Beach but never could get the thing licensed and legal for anywhere else. Probably just as well because I also wasn't licensed and legal yet. Wish I still had a picture of it.
