I don't remember which "B" (Bad) movie it came from but, "This is one of your more insane creations, Doctor."
This started out to be pretty faithful to Tchaikovsky's masterpiece, but not having a convenient set of cannons handy, I knew I'd have to make a "few" changes. One thing led to another, etc., and before I knew it, everything had become piano tracks - 37 of them.
A piano doesn't have the sustain possible with most other orchestral instruments, so I ended up shaping the Envelopes to get the sound I wanted. That is, it is still a piano, but the sound is carried out longer. I also used a lot of Reverb techniques for the same purpose.
This song, and most of the classical pieces, (and a few other songs,) in the original versions have HUGE dynamic ranges from whisper quiet to jet engine at takeoff loud. This is terrific if you are in a concert hall, but not really suitable for most other listening. I use some custom Automatic Gain Control software I wrote to "even out" the sounds so that you can still hear the quiet parts and not knock the walls down with the loud passages.
