Album 17 - DJ Wannabe, Part 5 of 4 ??? Cover Art in Color as shown on the Reeves Motal Piano and Synthesizer Music Website

OK, OK, I'm just an engineer! Tensor calculus, pretty good - counting, not so much. Anyway -

Once I put together the radio DJ wannabe albums, I still had some songs left over - and had added a few more in the meantime, so here's some more coming at you folks. Some of these never made it to the Billboard charts because they were never released as singles. It's surprising how many really memorable songs never made it to regular Top 40 play.

In some cases it was because they were too far over the "magic 3 minutes" for airplay. And then at other times, the record labels just never released them - don't know why because they would have definitely made the charts as singles. However, they did pretty well as LP album only cuts. Led Zeppelin's best know song, Stairway to Heaven, never made it to the airwaves - it was only available on Led Zeppelin IV - and probably later on some "Best Of" compilations.

The most extreme case of the split between Top 40 and Album popularity is Pink Floyd's album, The Dark Side of the Moon. I think only one track was ever released as a single, Money, and it peaked on the charts at number 13 and was somewhere in the top 40 for only 9 weeks. Wouldn't look too promising except that the album has stayed on the album charts for 962 weeks so far! Nope, that's not a typo. It has been charting for a record setting 18 1/2 years!

I'll shut up with the trivia at this point and get the turntable spinning with 22 more classic vinyls in a row.

PS The album cover is a true "Oops." I can imagine the grief rained down on someone that spilled paint all over a fine rug.
