This is one of those, "I wonder what ever happened to" type songs. Linda Ronstadt went on to amazing success - but what became of the Stone Ponies? During the recording of this song, she was the only one from the group in the studio. Everyone else was a studio musician. Bands get left behind when their star moves on. I remember seeing Big Brother and the Holding Company featuring Janice Joplin in small letters at the old Vulcan Gas Company storefront dance/bar on Congress Avenue when no one had ever heard of them. Soon after, people just said "Janice Joplin."
